HockeyTracker is a comprehensive hockey tracking application that transforms any Apple Watch into a sophisticated tracking computer. With its impressive range of features, it has gained recognition and been featured by iMore. Prior to a game, simply start HockeyTracker and begin monitoring your favorite performance statistics. Afterward, delve deep into your data to gain valuable insights. 
HockeyTracker covers an extensive array of performance metrics, including some that are exclusive to the app. It offers dedicated modes for various scenarios such as games, pick-up games, practices, goalie training, dryland training, coaching, stick time, open skate, pond hockey, and refereeing. Additionally, it incorporates automatic shift detection with details such as shift length, calories burned, top speed, and heart rates from each shift. The app also sends alerts for recovered (fresh) heart rates and high heart rates during gameplay. Furthermore, users can view live in-game stat tracking and a summary of their last shift, which includes duration, calories burned, distance covered, and average speed. Other key features include game scores, goals/assists/plus-minus rating, calories burned, distance skated, heart rates (including max and average ice time heart rates), max/average skating speed, ice time measurement, VO2 max calculation (based on resting heart rate), heart rate recovery analysis, maximum capable speed assessment, hockey fitness level evaluation, skate efficiency assessment, effort level tracking and heart rate zone analysis. Historical graphs allow users to track their performance metrics over time and assess improvement. The shift timer feature reminds users to get to the bench when their desired shift time is up by providing a haptic ping. Sharing stats with others is easy via text, email, Twitter, Facebook, or Slack. Furthermore, HockeyTracker features a freshness meter complication which indicates readiness for the next session. The notes section allows users to keep track of their performance or describe specific goals, hits, and penalties. Lastly, the app incorporates a custom heart rate filtering algorithm to exclude inaccurately high heart rate values.
HockeyTracker enables users to record a complete workout from start to finish without the need for a phone.
It is important to note that HockeyTracker utilizes a proprietary shift tracking algorithm that can distinguish between being on the ice and being on the bench.
In order to calculate VO2Max, HockeyTracker uses the resting heart rate provided by Apple during periods of inactivity. However, it should be noted that Series 0 Apple Watches are not capable of measuring resting heart rates, thus the calculation of VO2Max is not supported on Series 0 Watches at this time.
There are a few additional points worth mentioning. Firstly, HockeyTracker requires an Apple Watch to collect and display the tracked data. Secondly, it integrates with the Health App on your iPhone to retrieve the relevant workout data. Accordingly, it will request permission to access the corresponding data types associated with a workout.
Regarding HockeyTracker subscriptions, new subscribers can enjoy a one-week free trial. Please note that any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited upon purchasing a subscription. Subscription payment will be charged to your iTunes account upon confirmation of purchase. Unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period, your subscription will be automatically renewed. Depending on your chosen subscription length (monthly or annually), you will have access to the entire iPhone app for the respective periods as long as your subscription remains active. Account renewal charges will be equivalent to the price you were initially charged for the subscription. You can easily manage your subscriptions and disable auto-renewal by accessing your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.
